Go To Photo Gallery for Examples Basic Use Corroseal® is recommended for use on steel surfaces as a rust converter/paint primer. Corroseal® protects against future rusting, and can be used on welds. It eliminates the need to mechanically blast the steel to white metal, and is designed for use of water blasted surfaces that rerust. For detail see CORProductData.pdf. Application Apply a final stage cleaner according to manufacturer's directions. Remove salt, loose rust, mill scale, dirt, grease, oil, old flaking paint and other deposits. A residue free surface is essential before coating application begins. Brush, roll or spray undiluted Corroseal® in a heavy white coat with no surface show-through at 8-10 mils (200-250 micron) wet film thickness. When black color appears, rust conversion has started. Wait at least 24 hours to topcoat. Apply top coats after 24 hour cure, or wait to 30 days allowing flexible window for weather, or for schedule flexibility. For complete application analysis and specifications refer CORVisGuide.pdf and CORTechData.pdf. Corroseal® test for Cathodic Disbondment ASTM D4541 Pull Force at Failure averages 1132 psi. UV Resistance (Mil-A-8625, BAC5022, ASTM G-23 Ultraviolet Testing) 1000 hours No Fading Degree of Rusting on Painted Steel Surfaces ASTM D610 4224 hours - No rusting. Grade 10. For detail see CORTechData.pdf got rust? - http://www.corroseal.com/gotrust-description.htm Corroseal® users include U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard; ARCO Marine Inc. on all vlcc tankers; NORSHIPCO, Norfolk, Virginia; Avondale, Louisiana Shipyard; automated weather observation stations(AWOS); USS Tripoli missile test carrier; US tanker, container fleets; fishing fleets of the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, Pacific and Alaska; China Power and Light (Hong Kong), off shore oil facilities, support vessels and equipment of the Gulf of Mexico, Nova Scotia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India; and Singapore steel building renovation. Coverage 1 gallon of Corroseal® covers approximately 200 sq. ft. in a 10 mil coat (200-250 micron) to produce a 2.5-3 mil DFT to cover anchor profiles for estimating purposes. Converts heavy rust over 20-30 mils deep. Two (2) coats will convert up to 150 mils of rust. Actual surface conditions and thickness of rust will dictate amount of Corroseal® needed. Heavy rust depths require a longer cure to 48 hours before overcoating.
